Amani Art Club, a youth outreach program in an urban slum of Nairobi, Kenya, aims to make learning fun and interactive by integrating music and art with lessons in geography, world culture, history, and literature. The co-founder, a kama'aina from Honolulu, moved to Africa in 2010 and founded the Amani Art Club. Crandall is the two-time recipient of the Hawaii People's Choice Award (2008; 2011) and has been singing Hawaiian jazz since 1990. Her experience includes leading the Hawaii Club at Georgetown University where she advocated Hawaiian culture across the East Coast. Integrating Hawaiian dance, music, and chant into the Amani Club curriculum to expose African students to the wisdom of modern and traditional Hawaiian music.
